WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Sonoma State junior Samantha Lipperd has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Pitcher of the Year. Lipperd leads the nation in strikeouts (375) and has established new single-season school records in strikeouts and wins. She has not allowed a run in her last 33.1 innings.
This exciting competitive softball tournament is FULL! With 5 age divisions 8U-12U and 45 teams ready to play.
Action starts on Friday, July 19th - 21st at various parks in Rohnert Park.
Each team is guaranteed 4 games. Pool play for Saturday and single elimination on Sunday. Some local teams will play Friday night.
Come on out and Cheer on the girls! For fans and players, the tournament features BBQ tri-tip, tacos, sno-cones, helmet painting, and great softball!!
It used to be that gathering up your bat and ball and heading down to the ball field for a game was left to the younger generation. But the members of the Sonoma Fog softball team, will have non of that old fashioned thinking.
This team of softball players, all of whom pre date US involvement in WWII, play together year round traveling to tournaments. Their tournaments take then to Manteca, Reno, and Palm Springs. Mostly they seem happy just to get outside together and have fun!
