Dawn Carter, the Health and Fitness Director at the Sonoma County Family YMCA in Santa Rosa offers training tips for the Run/Walk.
We asked Dawn specifically for her advice on trainig for the Run/Walk as that is one of the sporting event that does not require prior rule knowledge or specific techinique.
If you can simply walk you can compete in this event and with Dawns help we want to make sure you can finish it too! Read Training Tips
Amy Crabb, Development Director with the Council on Aging provides us with a glimpse into the process of organizing the Sonoma Wine Country Senior Games.
As she notes, it took months of discussion and research to uncover the Senior Games and that they were growing into a national phenomenon.
The Huntsman World Games in St. George, Utah attracted 10,000 participants in 2010. Last year was Sonoma Countys first Senior Games and we had 500 participants. We hope to watch its participation grow.
